92.5 Kickin’ Country Listener Appreciation Party
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022

The rain threat didn’t keep lucky 92.5 Kickin’ Country listeners from packing into The Refinery on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to see Nashville great Joe Nichols for free. The Lowcountry showed up and Joe Nichols delivered, playing all of the hits we wanted to hear including slow dance favorite “Gimme Dat Girl” and his beachy single “Sunny and 75.”

Opening for Joe was Lowcountry lawyer John Price and his band, followed by newly minted Charleston City Paper “Song of the Year” winner Lauren Hall.

Thanks to Joe, who delivered an awesome show, Kickin’ Country listeners, who always make it a party, and to our sponsors, Top Shelf CateringSweet Grass VodkaAnchor Heating & Air, John Price Law FirmStokes Volkswagen, Bud Light and Dorchester Paws, who made the show possible.

Scroll on for photos and video of some of our favorite memories from the night.

Here’s Joe backstage, amping himself up to walk on stage as Kickin’ Country’s Hunter & Cush introduce him to the crowd:

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
