On Tuesday, April 11, Kickin’ Country listeners sold out the ticket inventory twice and packed into the Rusty Bull Brewing Co. parking lot to hear “For What It’s Worth” artist Breland live, with proceeds benefitting MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. A Jersey/Atlanta boy who’s been defying the “country artist” stereotype since his earliest collaborations, Breland’s talent, positivity and smooth blending of urban and country elements was on full display. The heartfelt stories behind breakup ballads like “Good for You” and his current radio single “For What It’s Worth” had us doing some deep thinking, while happy hits like “Cowboy Don’t” and “Hot Sauce” had us dancing in our seats.

The sheer number of original hits and silky smooth covers he performed with infectious energy left the crowd with the impression that Breland is an all-around songwriting, singing, rapping talent with an undeniable, as he would call it, “joy, not happiness,” that we could listen to on repeat. Those merits have caught the attention of major artists like Shania Twain – who he’ll be touring with this summer, and Kickin’ listeners were lucky to see him live before he does. Thanks to Breland, Rusty Bull and our sponsors, Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union and Huk Performance Gear for a majorly fun night for a great cause.

LeBron James’ 1,297-game double-digit scoring streak ends but he gets winning assist vs. Raptors

For LeBron James, the win mattered more than the streak. James' NBA-record run of 1,297 consecutive regular-season games with at least 10 points ended Thursday night at Toronto, and he was the one who made the decision to have it end. Instead of trying to score to win the game — and extend his streak — he set up Rui Hachimura for the final shot.
