RECAP: Walker Hayes at Firefly Distillery – Oct. 7, 2021

What a night! Last night, Applebee’s front man and Monument Records‘ skyrocketing country star Walker Hayes had us all on our feet dancing #FancyLike on the field at Firefly Distillery. Walker kicked off the night with an exclusive 4-song set in the VIP Acoustic Session with several lucky 92.5 Kickin’ Country winners and stayed for a meet n’ greet and photo opp.

Later, on the main stage, the field was soggy, but the mud couldn’t stop the party! Proceeds from the show raised a generous $10,000 for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, a cause near to Walker’s heart. 92.5 Kickin’ Country presented the check to a patient family accepting the money o behalf of the hospital. Then the party got started.

Walker played favorites from past albums like “Craig” and “Dollar Store,” introduced us to a few new songs including “U Gurl” that had us out of our seats and, of course, “Fancy Like.”

Thanks to Firefly Distillery for the hospitality, Baker Buick GMC and Dixie Furniture for sponsoring, Walker and Monument Records for the unforgettable show and the Kickin’ country fans who braved the mud and brought their bougiest dance moves to the party. We can’t wait to do it again!

The 2025 season has produced a surprising show of parity through the first five months of the regular season. This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
