January Fishing & Boating Tips from Huk – “Born in the Lowcountry”

January Tips
We love the fall. If you could only fish one time of the year in Charleston, it’s right now! Below is a brief rundown of this month’s fishing report – what’s biting, how to get ’em on the line and what you’ll need to do it.

What’s Biting

How to Huk ‘Em

Water temperatures have started too cool off and Hungry Bull Redfish are at the jetties, in the surf and crashing what’s left of the bait that is in the creeks. As the water starts to clear up, this is a great time to fish artificial lures and a Paddletail rigged on a 1/4oz to a 3/16oz jig can put plenty of fish in the boat. Many days in January, if you find one, you will usually catch more in the same location. Pay attention to the water temperatures and target water between 65 and 75 degrees for both Redfish and Trout.

Come Prepared
Remember that extra layer of clothing because the morning runs can get chilly. You want to be at your best as the sun starts to warm things up. Check out the newest line of Outerwear from Huk, that is designed to keep you warm and dry but lets you adjust to the changes that fall is sure to bring.

Caught a big one and wanna brag about it? Upload a photo below and tell us where you caught it (that is, unless it’s your secret fishing hole).

As always, thanks for making Huk “Your Hometown Clothing Brand.”
