ISSUE: Women’s Issues
For the third consecutive year, the South Carolina Stingrays are hosting a “Women in Sports Night” at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Stingray’s SVP of Corporate Partnerships Kerri White shared the details on this year’s event, which will focus around a panel discussion featuring women from multiple areas of the sports industry in and around the Lowcountry. Along with providing the identity of the members of the panel, White provided some background on previous year’s discussions and how these individuals will make themselves available to attendees. White also shared her own personal experience as a woman in the sports industry, sharing her journey from the Toledo Mud Hens, to the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Stingrays. Additionally, White provided the timeline and ticket information for Women In Sports Night.

GUEST: Michael Burris, CEO
ISSUE: Government
The South Carolina Policy Council is a non-profit organization that is basically a think tank dedicated to economic issues in the Palmetto State. Michael Burris, CEO of the Policy Council, talked about the organization’s history, dating back to 1986, and explained what the Council does, including helping to write legislation for our state. The Policy Council has four principals – limited government, individual liberties, free markets and traditional South Carolina values – and Burris explained each one of their principals in-depth. As a non-profit, Burriss shared how the organization is funded as well as how the Council benefits the residents of South Carolina. He discussed what made him join the organization, his role as CEO, the Council’s current priorities and how individuals can be involved, beyond simply making a monetary donation.
