Here’s Where You are Required to Wear a Mask in Public

DHEC posted 1,629 new cases of COVID-19 in SC yesterday. South Carolina ranks third in the nation in newly diagnosed cases over the past 14 days, adjusted by population, trailing only Arizona and Florida.

DHEC also reported 19 deaths.

With the recent spike in cases, cities across the Lowcountry are now requiring facial coverings to protect against the spread of the virus. Leaders believe doing so will help prevent another business shut down.

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey issued Emergency Proclamation yesterday requiring everyone to wear face coverings in public. The mask requirement goes into effect today at noon and will last until further notice.

Myrtle Beach has made face masks mandatory, now through Labor Day. The fine is up to $100.

The Town of Ridgeville is now requiring face masks at all times while in public or face fines up to $50.

Charleston, the Town of Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Sullivan’s Island, IOP, Folly Beach, Kiawah, Seabrook, Edisto, Hilton Head, Beaufort and Walterboro already have mask requirements in place.

Charleston County, Colleton County and Georgetown Counties all have mask odinances in place.

Goose Creek and the City of North Charleston do not have a mask mandate.

Because each town/city is different. Be safe. Wear a Mask.
