The South Carolina Office of the Inspector General (SCOIG) released a report in May, highlighting alleged mismanagement in our State Treasurer’s Office. In response to that report, State Treasurer Curtis Loftis explained his position and his responsibilities in a $31 million dollar loan from his office to the State Election Commission. Loftis went through his timeline and facts of the case and laid out details on what happened and how it came to be investigated. Loftis noted that the SCOIG found no criminal misconduct nor evidence of fraud, theft or personal enrichment. The State Treasurer discussed the importance of the matter to the residents of South Carolina and what his office would take from this report.
